- The Coral House Community is a gathering of ordinary people who long to live extraordinary lives. Together we are learning the truth of the paradox that Jesus taught when he said, “Listen carefully: Unless a grain of wheat is buried in the ground, dead to the world, it is never any more than a grain of wheat. But if it is buried, it sprouts and reproduces itself many times over. In the same way, anyone who holds on to life just as it is destroys that life. But if you let it go, reckless in your love, you'll have it forever, real and eternal” (John 12:24-25).
We are a young community. Some of us are single, some of us are married, and some of us have children. We live in two houses that we are renovating on one piece of property, and we have recently acquired an apartment next to our community garden a few blocks away. Along with a larger group of people, we work with the homeless in our neighborhood to provide food, clothing, shelter, and advocacy.
We're about Kingdom community, dying to ourselves, taking up the cross daily, loving our enemies, and laying down our lives for our friends. We are surrendering our lives to the one who surrendered His life for us. Together we are trying to figure out how to be the living, breathing, moving body of Jesus in our neighborhood and the world.
