What's going on at MSA- August Update

Here again is the annual update of MSA—what’s happened in the last year and where we hope to go. 2007-2008 has been characterized by the word “re-imagine.” We have started reimagining our organization as a network of communities, our staff as a team, and our focus as conveying the kingdom of God as a multicultural, international community of believers.

Mustard Seed House with an opening for a couple interested in Christian Intentional Community in Seattle

Peter and Anneke Geel will be leaving the Mustard Seed House in August. Peter has been accepted into the doctoral program at Georgetown University and for some reason they aren’t very keen on commuting to Washington DC each week. We are looking for a couple who are interested in joining our small community here in Seattle and moving into our 1 bedroom basement apartment. We are looking for people who can make at least a two year commitment.

Gardens are indeed a sign of hope! This is the second year for our small plot in our backyard, but the exciting news is that we have just begun a community garden on our block.

We work with neighborhood children each Wednesday (my fingernails are still dirty as I am typing). I believe that as Dorothy Day often quoted from Dostoevsky "The world will be saved by beauty." This is the first step in creating beauty "in the ghetto" as the kids say.

Hey Eliacin.

I just bought my tix to Seattle last night -- looking forward to conspiring in August. And I'm sure the climate there will be better than the muggy, dogdays of August we will be having here. I'm trying to get a couple of my co-conspirators around here to join me but they're balking at paying for it themselves. Can't say I blame them for that.

I don't know Mark personally, but I know a lot of folks who know him (Doug and Tony and the like). I've been meaning to check-out missio dei -- again, I know a lot about them but never interacted.

Later....

Eliacin!

I was excited to see you on here as the facilitator. I totally missed that edition of Sojourners, I'm going to have to hunt that one down. Speaking of COTA, I miss it a lot. Have you and your family been going to COTA again or are you still going to St. Mark's?

Hope all is well! I'll add more on here soon.

Peace,

Ray

That would be great. In truth, your community (MS) has been a central inspiration for us in shaping our community. Let me know when and how we can chat.

peace,

Thanks Eliacin! You guys are setting something of a template for what our little community is becoming, so this e-community provides a much needed network for us.

Still not sure if I am going to make it to Philly. I talked Tom & Christine into staying a couple of extra days when they are here in Winnipeg for a small gathering, so I may have to stick around to organize that.

Peace,
Jamie

Well, we'll have to see how this all processes out, but no doubt I'll be posting. is there a way to directly link a blog to the ning?

Thanks - glad to be here!

Just out of curiosity... were ther features of the Ning enviroment that were particularly important in deciding to open up this network rather than just stick with the Facebook group? I've been thinking about launching a network and I'm interested in pro/con on various platforms.

Thanks!

Tim
