I recently realized that my blog posts wind up on the main page of this site, and had an attack of shyness that my posts are most of what's going on in this little patch of blogosphere. I suppose that the other solution is for other folks to also blog here, but I don't have any control over that.
My time in eastern Oregon was amazing, and for anyone who hasn't been there, it has very little to do with Portland or what most people think of as the Northwest. It is more like Nevada. Look all you w…

I'm on a weeklong road trip in the desert, and true to form, I'm running into God left and right. I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised, since God is everywhere. The trip started with three days in Boise at a rancher co-op meeting. It was an amazing and wonderful cultural experience, and if I don't eat any more beef for a while, that will be OK. I hope none of them find this blog. But just in case, I want to say that Country Natural Beef is totally doing God's work when it comes to cattle. The…

OK, let's see how long I can go before I get into a serious entry about God's cooperative nature, or the essence of mustard seeds, or any such blahtyblahblah. Luckily, tonight I am distracted by a very surreal pairing of events. I'm still trying to make sense of it, so let's see how I do...
A neighbor down the street invited my parents to her last orchestra performance at our neighborhood Catholic school's spring concert. For the heck of it, I decided to join them. We walked down the street to…

Hello everyone. I've been meaning to start a blog, and tonight's the night. It will probably mostly be a broken record about my favorite subject of cooperation (writing books and creating websites on the subject), but first I would like to start with a little something different.
Lately, I've been feeling called back to my birthplace of Nineveh...err...Sacramento, where it seems that there is work to be done around food. A few days ago I arrived in town to find the lead story in the local paper…

the mutards seeds spread!!! Today Peace Tree's Kiwi mates Manu and Sam have been causing some Christ-like trouble for the systems that are yet to submit to the reality of a nonviolent world that is ours in the resurrection. Here's the press and some photos. Keep them in ya prayers:

The date is April 21, 2008. The weather is dark, cold and snowing. They say that the earth is getting hotter. I have a hard time believing that after this winter and more specifically, this weekend.
My son and I went camping this weekend. I don't do winter camping. But I figured, "Mid-April, weather should be nice, maybe a little chilly, but nice enough." Boy was I wrong. We went up Friday night and the temperatures dropped to well below freezing - think 20's. It snowed and I awoke (if that's w…

The Mustard Seed Associates and Thomas Knoll are partnering to host a
learning party on
technology and mission, on
Wednesday, April 23, 7pm ~ 9pm.
Utilizing the web for mission could be so much more than simply blasting evangelistic messages out to the faceless masses. This is the social age of the web, where online communities, tools, and resources make it easier to extend relationships, expand influence, and invite participation. Duri…

Last week I took a Biblical Study & Interpretation course as part of my Seminary studies. There were also many students of the other three theological seminaries that are part of the Instituto Superior de Estudios Bíblico-Teológicos (ISEBIT) [Superior Institute of Biblical-Theological Studies] of the Dominican Republic.
The course was lectured by Tirsa Ventura, dominican and professo…

Call for Stories!
20-Somethings Living Alternatively
For an upcoming issue of the
Seed Sampler, the monthly e-zine of Mustard Seed Associates, we are focusing on “20-Somethings Living Alternatively.” We are looking for stories and examples from college students and young professionals who are seeking to live into the king of God that is already here. How have you responded to the call to be part of God’s redeeming work in the world?
Some of you are living in radical intent…
